- The Game Awards 2025 had many announcements, including new reveals and updates for upcoming titles, along with release dates.
- Existing games got updates either through free content drops or expansions.
- The secret of the monolith leading up to the event was revealed to be for Divinity, Larian Studios’ next title.
- Esports titles that were revealed or updated at TGA 2025 include Invincible VS, Ace Combat 8, Marvel Rivals: Season 6, 2XKO, and Highguard.
The Game Awards 2025 capped off one of the best years in gaming history, which proved to be a year where indie studios truly shone. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 predictably swept the awards, but left room for fellow indie titles Hades 2 and Hollow Knight: Silksong to take some silverware too. Still, eyes turn to 2026 and beyond to see if it can live up to the year we’ve just had.
While the titan that is Grand Theft Auto 6 will be launching in 2026, it doesn’t mean the rest of the year will go quietly. TGA 2025 gave us a sneak peek at what to expect, from games being revealed to the world for the first time to titles that we got an extra look at during the show.
With that said, here’s everything that was announced at The Game Awards.
The Game Awards 2025 reveals
As with every year, TGA 2025 was a massive event for many game reveals. Some we had a rough idea of beforehand, while others came as complete surprises. Here’s everything that was revealed.
Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons

From Invoke Studios, Wizards of the Coast showed off its new Dungeons & Dragons title: Warlock, starring Tricia Helfer. With co-op gameplay and deep, narrative choices, this is one to keep an eye on for D&D fans, coming in 2027.
Gang of Dragons

Starring Don Lee, Toshihiro Nagoshi’s new studio has revealed Gang of Dragons, a Yakuza-style title promising immersive, urban gameplay in the streets of Japan, along with deep narrative choices. Yakuza/Like a Dragon seems to have some competition.
Forest 3

A sequel to Sons of the Forest, Forest 3 continues Endnight Games’ horror adventure, with a trailer showing an astronaut in a mysterious world, likely stranded from a crash landing. There is no release window as of yet.
Tomb Raider: Catalyst & Legacy of Atlantis
Crystal Dynamics hit us with a Tomb Raider double whammy: Catalyst, coming out in 2027, and Legacy of Atlantis, releasing in 2026. The legendary Lara Croft is back, once again sporting her dual pistols and dynamic, acrobatic flair. Both games, particularly Legacy of Atlantis, appear to be a return to more traditional Tomb Raider roots after the Survivor trilogy.
Control: Resonant

A sequel to 2019’s Control, Remedy is expanding the universe with Control: Resonant, coming out in 2026. Players take control of Dylan Faden, traversing through a twisted Manhattan beyond the Oldest House.
Total War: Warhammer 40,0000

Creative Assembly is finally doing it, and bringing Total War to the grimdark, Warhammer 40,000 universe, showing the franchise’s continued rise. There’s no release date yet, but the gameplay in the trailer shows great promise for the many 40K fans out there.
Mega Man: Dual Override

Capcom continues its roll by announcing Mega Man: Dual Override, a 2D platformer for 2027. It looks to keep the classic Mega Man formula, but with updated graphics. Mega Man fans need not wait much longer now.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer & Fate of the Old Republic

Star Wars fans were struck with a two-hit combo, with Galactic Racer bringing back Podracing in a massive way, and Fate of the Old Republic finally taking us back to one of the franchise’s most beloved eras.
There was more to show from Galactic Racer, with a 2026 release date. Still, Fate of the Old Republic will likely be the major talking point, bringing Mass Effect’s Casey Hudson to direct. This could be a triumphant return for the Old Republic.
4:LOOP

J.J. Abrams and Mike Booth will be bringing us 4:LOOP, developed by Bad Robot Games. It will be a four-player co-op shooter, available for PS5 and Steam, with a revival mechanic at its core.
No Law

From Neon Giant comes a brutal, cyberpunk FPS RPG: No Law, promising striking environments, fast-paced action, and immersive storytelling. Fans of Cyberpunk 2077 should definitely keep their eyes on this one.
Ontos

Starring the incredible Stellan Skarsgård, Ontos is a sci-fi horror title from Frictional Games, the creators of Soma. It promises to be a harrowing and eerily atmospheric experience, set to release on PC and Xbox in 2026.
Order of the Sinking Star

Braid and The Witness creator Jonathan Blow has revealed Order of the Sinking Star, launching in 2026 on PC and later on consoles. Blow is known for his complex puzzles and thoughtful narratives. The Order of the Sinking Star appears to be continuing in this vein.
Bradley the Badger

Evan Peters will star in Bradley the Badger, a 3D platformer with meta, satirical elements. It will take players through a series of whimsical worlds, from Badgerborne (yes, that’s the name) to Cyberbadger. With live-action elements, the game appears to be an interesting blend of humour and platforming.
Stupid Never Dies

Developed by former Capcom veterans known for Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, and Dragon’s Dogma, Stupid Never Dies is a zombie action RPG coming in 2026. Something about it looks delightfully 2000s, with its stylised aesthetic and chaotic action gameplay.
The Free Shepherd

Releasing in 2027, The Free Shepherd trailer kicked off The Game Awards. It looks to be an adorable game about a dog herding sheep, set in an alien world (or maybe our world in the future).
Coven of the Chicken Foot

Bruce Straley, formerly of Naughty Dog and his studio, Wildflower, has announced Coven of the Chicken Foot, an exploration and puzzle-focused title featuring a wonderful, cel-shaded aesthetic. While a far cry from Uncharted and The Last of Us, Coven of the Chicken Foot’s atmosphere promises to be something special.
Decrepit

While there have been far too many Souls-likes, Decrepit might be one worth looking into, with impactful first-person combat and brilliantly grotesque horror elements. While there is no release window yet, playtests will be available soon.
Audiomech

Audiomech will allow players to use music as a weapon. With a strong, neon design, players will have access to Bass Blades, Vocal Cannons, and Treble Bombs in this unique action title, with a demo available on Steam.
Orbitals

Orbitals was announced for the Nintendo Switch 2, a quirky, stylised, 3D platformer with a heavy anime aesthetic set in a sci-fi world. While 3D, there are 2D cinematic elements, and it will be coming only for the Switch in 2026.
Divinity
Finally, there was Divinity, likely the biggest reveal of the night. By the legendary Larian Studios, who made the multi-award-winning Baldur’s Gate 3, there was a lot of mystery behind the new game. The monolith teased throughout was revealed to belong to Divinity, although the likes of God of War, Elder Scrolls 6, and Diablo 4 were all pulled into it.
Still, Divinity promises to be an epic, dark fantasy adventure, even if practically nothing was actually revealed. We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled for gameplay and release window details, although it’s likely the new Divinity will be a CRPG title, considering Larian’s recent resume.
Every game we got a closer look at in TGA 2025
Many games that have already been announced got further updates at The Game Awards as they continue to take shape, giving us a better idea of what to expect. Not only that, but released games also announced new content at the event, whether that be an expansion or free content drops.
Out of Words: A closer look

Revealed back in June, Out of Words’ breathtaking, stop-motion aesthetic turned a few heads, and it seems Kong Orange has made plenty of progress in six months, showing off gameplay and cinematics for its whimsical, co-op adventure. Fans of Hazelight (the developer behind Split Fiction) should look into Out of Words for another co-op adventure.
Saros: Releasing on April 30, 2026

Housemarque and Sony finally showed off more from Saros, an action, bullet-hell shooter releasing on April 30, 2026. We got a better look at the game’s narrative, its high-paced, third-person gunplay, and second-chance revive mechanic. It has a lot to live up to, but it looks like Saros is continuing on the right track.
007 First Light: Lenny Kravitz joins the Bond world

We’ve got another 007 First Light trailer, showcasing a new villain played by Lenny Kravitz. He will play Bawma, a pirate ruler, but more importantly, we get a greater look at the cinematic quality of First Light, which will release on March 27, 2026.
Solasta 2: Release date and cast reveal

Solasta 2, a D&D Fifth Edition CRPG, aims to deliver on its tactical gameplay, with early access scheduled for March 12, 2026. Its cast also got announced at The Game Awards, confirming that Ben Starr is, in fact, in everything. Devora Wilde, Amelia Tyler, and Ellen Thomas were also announced as part of the stacked cast list.
Hitman: Milla Jovovich is the new target

Milla Jovovich joins Hitman World of Assassination as a limited-time target, winking at her film role in the Resident Evil franchise. The mission will thus be themed around Resident Evil: Patient Zero.
Lords of the Fallen 2: Gameplay reveal

While it had nothing to do with the mysterious monolith in the end, Lords of the Fallen 2 still made an appearance, receiving its first gameplay reveal trailer, continuing the series’ dark fantasy aesthetic while hopefully refining gameplay.
Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity trailer

Guild Wars is celebrating its 20th anniversary, along with the release of GW2’s sixth expansion: Visions of Eternity. The latest trailer reminds everyone how far Guild Wars 2 has come and will continue to grow with this expansion.
Resident Evil 9: Leon is back

Resident Evil Requiem gave us a first look at Leon S Kennedy, and while he may be showing signs of life, he’s still the legendary Leon we all remember, bringing the action. Releasing February 27, 2026, it’s almost time for Capcom to give us some zombie-filled scares.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: New free content

Other than winning every award under the sun, Expedition 33 will also have more content. It became available the night of The Game Awards, featuring new bosses, areas, and so on as part of a ‘thank you’ update. Truth be told, we should be thanking Sandfall.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
In probably the most entertaining reveal of the night, we got an extra look and a laugh from LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. It will be released on May 29, 2026, on multiple platforms and is suitable for the entire family.
Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred expansion

Also dragged into the monolith narrative, Diablo 4 had an expansion to announce: Lord of Hatred, arriving on April 28, 2026. While major gameplay renovations have been promised, the most exciting news is the return of the Paladin class.
Phantom Blade Zero: Release date announcement

Phantom Blade Zero continues to impress with its stylish combat and smooth animations. S-Game will launch the title on September 9, 2026, for PS5 and PC, with the latest trailer showcasing the flashy, yet intense combat.
Nioh 3: New gameplay reveal

The third entry in the Nioh series, Nioh 3, will release on February 6, 2026, with a demo releasing on January 29. The trailer also showcased switching between samurai and ninja styles, intense combat, epic bosses, and everything that fans could want from the series.
Pragmata: Finally, a release date

Finally, after several delays, Capcom’s Pragmata finally has a release date as part of The Game Awards announcements, aiming for April 24, 2026. The sci-fi action-adventure title combines third-person shooter mechanics with complex puzzle-solving, with a demo soon to be released.
Lost Skies: Xbox and PlayStation announcement

Lost Skies, a 6-player co-op multiplayer survival game available on Steam, is set to arrive on consoles in Q1 2026, specifically for Xbox and PlayStation.
Warframe: New, ominous trailer

Warframe reminded everyone that it’s still going strong. Players got a glimpse of an ominous trailer, narrated by Werner Herzog, and although it is not yet known if he will voice a character, the game remains available on all major platforms.
Wuthering Waves: Back to School

Walking away with the Player’s Voice award, Wuthering Waves wasn’t just taking home at The Game Awards. It also featured a ‘Back to School’ trailer to showcase the Startorch Academy.
The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin: Gameplay trailer shown off

Based on the popular anime and manga series of the same name, we got a look at gameplay for The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin. The expressive, turn-based combat appears to be more than just another anime tie-in cash grab, launching on January 28, 2026.
Screamer: Story trailer reveal

Screamer, an anime-inspired racing title, got an official story trailer to give everyone a look under the bonnet. Aiming for a March 26, 2026, release date, there will be more than just racing in Screamer, with a narrative worth paying attention to.

Warframe wasn’t the only project the creators wanted to show off. Soulframe has a new teaser, featuring a bit more gameplay and a fairy-like creature trapped in a cage. It showcased little of the upcoming free-to-play open-world adventure game, which still lacks a release date, but advertised for the Founders of the game.
Potential Esports Games From TGA 2025
Of course, at Esports Insider, we take a special look at potential esports titles, from new game reveals to updates on existing or upcoming titles. Here are the titles esports enthusiasts should keep an eye on.
Invincible VS: Ella Mental reveal

A new character has been revealed for Invincible VS: Ella Mental. Curiously, Mental is brand-new and not derived from any existing material in the universe, but it will be important to the story going forward. The game also got a release date, launching on April 30, 2026.
Ace Combat 8: Microsoft flight sim with adrenaline

While the Ace Combat series doesn’t have a massive esports scene, there are very occasional tournaments, and perhaps the reveal of a new title, Ace Combat 8: Wing of Teve, will bring it to life. It’s aiming for sometime in 2026.
Marvel Rivals: Season 6: Deadpool time

Despite Rogue just getting announced, NetEase has revealed its hero for Season 6, and it’s the Merc with a Mouth: Deadpool. The trailer is as chaotic as you would expect, showing that Marvel Rivals will probably never run out of ideas for new characters.
2XKO: On Console

2XKO is currently in early access for PC users, but Riot is bringing its League of Legends fighting game to consoles sometime in January 2026. Caitlyn Kiramman was also revealed as an upcoming new hero.
Highguard

The final announcement of The Game Awards was from the creators behind Apex Legends and Titanfall: Highguard. Highguard will be a free-to-play hero shooter with mounted combat and massive machinery, coming on January 26, 2026. Here’s hoping it won’t be another Concord.
Titles We Didn’t Get To See
Ordinarily, what players expect to see at TGA is what they get, but because of the monolithic promo for Larian’s Divinity, the speculation led to quite a few games being expected for the event. In hindsight, they were a little silly or too hopeful, but some names include:
- God of War 6: Originally theorised to be part of the monolith.
- The Elder Scrolls 6: Also theorised to be part of the monolith.
- FromSoftware projects: Theorised that the monolith could belong to FromSoftware.
- Titanfall 3: Titanfall was mentioned, but only in reference to Highguard.
- Bioshock 4: Despite rumours, Bioshock remained silent at the event.
- Grand Theft Auto 6: It won the most anticipated game, but had nothing to show at the awards.
Conclusion
The Game Awards remains the biggest show in gaming, and while it was a year for single-player titles, some esports representation was about. There is still plenty to look forward to for esports fans, even if the actual awards were somewhat bare. Still, with the industry being the way it is, the likes of League of Legends, Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, and so on continue to dominate.
Ultimately, it has been an amazing year for gaming as a whole, and we would be blessed if 2026 lives up to it even a little. With all the fighting games set to release in 2026, here’s hoping it can be a better year for esports releases.
